Beginnings

In the beginning, God.

It’s the New Year, and with each New Year, we tend to make many plans and desire to start again. Often we say “New Year, New me,” and that’s the end of it nothing tends to change. When I think about the New Year, I think about the bible and that it is full of new beginnings, from the time Adam stepped out of the Garden of Eden to Noah’s story in Genesis 5-9. When Abraham left his father’s people to an unknown place, Jacob fled his brother Esau to Laban’s house, and the people of Israel came out of Egypt. Now in the present day, a lot might not have changed in our surroundings to cause us to change, or maybe it has. How do we begin again?

Ephesians 2:10
tells us we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do.

To begin again, we must recognize that we cannot do it on our strength or in our way. We must ask God for guidance, doesn’t he say he makes all things new? We, therefore, need to start where we are. We do not need a grand plan, what we need is to evaluate where we are and make a decision to begin. Trust in yourself and your God-given ability. Ephesians 2:10 tells us we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Next, use what you have and be diligent. In using what you have, you don’t have to wait for that big opportunity because you already have started with the resources at your disposal. Once you begin to keep at it and be diligent in Proverbs 22:29 (AMP), do you see a man diligent and skillful in business? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men. So being diligent will make you dine with kings. Lastly partner with someone. As humans, we are relational beings and need help from time to time. We need to be listened to, supported, and cheered on by others. It is by sharing with others that we can take steps to begin.

What do you want to begin? Is it that business idea you want to actualize, that course that will take you to the next level, that bible study time, or that relationship? Everything is possible, just begin it is a new year of great things. Once there is life there is hope.

Have a great week.
