Spread Your Garment Over Me play to be held at Braeburn

Written by on March 20, 2024

Spread Your Garment Over Me(Ruth 3:9) is written as a series of monologues and songs which capture the
spirit and character of several women revealed to us in the Bible. The play by Chemichemi players will take place on 14th April 2024 at 2:30pm and 6 pm at Braeburn School on Gitanga road at the little theatre. The play has been written by Gillete Elvgren, with music by Christopher Malendoski.

One can expect a journey from the Old to the New Testament exploring stories of some well known women such as Eve, the first woman and Sarah, the wife of Abraham to lesser known women such as Rizpah, King Saul’s Concubine and even Simon Peter’s wife.

Using a variety of comic and dramatic pieces the play provides a unique perspective on some very intriguing women. Every scene is built around at least one prop and the use of a shawl. The shawls are a key component in the play, one shawl is Eve’s pregnancy, another the deceased son of Rizpah while another could be Claudia’s dress.

This show centers women’s voices as mothers, wives, sisters and friends. Men will also resonate with the material and provide especially within church leadership deeper insights on how to meet the needs of their female congregants.

The show is sponsored by Lintons Beauty World and Lintons Academy.
