Bishop Joseph Wandera Elected to the World Council of Churches Reference Group.

Delighted to mention that Rt. Revd. Dr. Joseph Wandera has been elected to the World Council of Churches (WCC) Reference Group on Intereligious Dialogue and Cooperation,at a meeting in Abuja,Nigeria.

Among other mandates of this group include ‘ Strengthening the WCC’s convening role for bi-lateral and multilateral dialogue with partners of other faiths at international level.

The World Council of Churches is a world wide Christian inter-church organization founded in 1948 to work for the cause of cooperation among Churches. Its headquarters are in Geneva,Switzerland.

The appointment of Bishop Wandera is significant to the ministry of the diocese of Mumias, around possible increased visibility and partnerships in the work of God.

Bishop Wandera is bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Mumias, Kenya. His PhD in Religious Studies is from the University of Cape Town. Prior to his election, Bishop Joseph taught for several years at St. Paul’s University, Limuru, Kenya, a leading ecumenical university, where he taught courses in Religious Studies and Mission and also co-founded and coordinated the Centre for Christian Muslim Relations in Eastleigh (CCMRE). Bishop Joseph has been involved in various committees of the Anglican Communion, including Theological Education in the Anglican Communion (TEAC).
