Scriptures Prayers Over Your Business and Work

Running a business is a spiritual journey as much as a road trip to business success. Along the road, we are tested, stretched, and stressed. The words of the bible will give us much-needed encouragement. I believe in praying for everything we do as Christians, work or business is the center of it. Here are some scriptures and sample prayers to help us to pray for our business or work.

1. Jeremiah 1:5 Before you were formed in your mother’s womb, God approved you and called you a prophet. It is for us to know we can be sure in what business God had called you into. When God supports your career path, he can sustain you through it. Therefore we have to be sure that we are working in our gifting and talents in our work or business. Our prayer, is for God to lead us into occupations that he has already approved for us.
2. Proverbs 24:3-4 Through wisdom a house is built and by understanding it is established and by knowledge, the rooms shall be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. We need wisdom in our businesses. One should not just start a business without understanding how to run it or work in an organization where they do not understand their role. We need wisdom and understanding, without which we fail. Our prayer, is for God to grant us intelligence and comprehension to do our work and run our business in a way that pleases him and to the glory of his kingdom. See also James 1:5.
3. Psalm 127:1 Unless the Lord builds the house, the builder’s labors are in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. God is the one who can build business for us. He is the one who enables us to work and watch others. Our prayer, is that we make God the foundation of our business and work. To make God the center of our business, to surrender it to him. The labor of our hands will not be in vain but fruitful for the kingdom here on earth.
4. Matthew 6:33 Seek ye first kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. Whom or what do you seek when business is not working or when you want customers? God has promised if we seek him, everything else will fall into place. Our prayer is for God to guide our hearts and motives thought out this working day. May we seek you and the kingdom above success, money, and people’s approval. We thank you and acknowledge that you are the provider of our every need.
5. Proverbs 11:1 A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight. Is God able to delight in your work? Are you honest with your boss and customers? They bible shares so much on the issue of dishonest scales that we should avoid it, and God is not pleased with dishonesty. In business, we should strive to be honest in everything we do, even our taxes. Our prayer is for God to help us to be honest in everything we do for our business. We may be his delight and serve others honestly.

These are but a few scriptures that can guide you in your business or work. Deuteronomy 8:18 tells us to remember that God gives us the ability to produce wealth, so begin with God, walk with God since he holds you and your business or work. Meditate on these scriptures or any others that God leads you to pray and ask God to help you in your occupation.
