“4 years ago,I stood infront of you and I was technically unemployed,”an elated Adebayo Akinfenwa told sky sports after Wycombe secured a place in the Championship from League 1 in a playoff match at wembley. In his usual media friendly tone, the struggled to find words because he was overcome with joy.”I want to thank God today because he has made the impossible possible!”Adebayo’s Akinfenwa
He said he wanted to talk to Klopp on whatsapp so that they could celebrate together, and sure enough,Kloop video called him and they had a good chat.He congratulated him for finally becoming a championship player. He also thanked his coach, and labelled him,’’The best manager in the Championship,’’
The story of Adebayo Akinfeenwa is an interesting one and goes to show you that anything is possible in this world if you put your mind to it. People said he was too big to play football but his stats have been pretty decent for a 38-year-old. He in fact ended up becoming famous because he was ranked as the strongest player in the Fifa video game series.
Akinfenwa’s first professional breakthrough came at Doncaster Rovers, having spent time up until then in the lower leagues of English football as well as spells in Lithuania and Wales. Following a short but successful time at Doncaster, Akinfenwa moved to his seventh club,Torquay United. He proved to be a goal threat, but left the struggling team the following season to join Swansea City. After spending two seasons with the Welsh club, he joined Milwall and later moved to Northampton. Akinfenwa spent six years switching from Northampton to Gillingham, where his goal-scoring ability was still apparent. In June 2014, he signed for AFC Wimbledon, and two years later Wycombe Wanderers,,who he has now helped to promotion.
“4 years ago, someone gave an opinion on me, that was their opinion,” said Akinfenwa,” and I hope my story shows that the only opinion that matters is the opinion about yourself, and I was lucky to find a manager and players who believed in me,”
Anything is possible lads,If you put your mind to it and shun the negative opinions about you.Use those opinions to make you stronger rather than weaker.
